Most patients come to our psychogenic non-epileptic seizure (PNES or NEAD) program when they have seizures that are not responding to any other treatment and there is the possibility that epilepsy may not be the correct diagnosis. Patients are evaluated to determine if psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES or NEAD) are in fact the reason behind their events. Our team is made up of health professionals who have specialized in PNES (NEAD) over the last decade and includes epileptologists, neuropsychologists, clinical psychologists, and psychiatrists. Our group provides patients with a comprehensive in-patient assessment with Video-EEG monitoring or ambulatory monitoring depending on the characteristics of the case, neuropsychological testing, and clinical interviewing. Once the diagnosis of psychogenic non-epileptic seizures (PNES or NEAD) is confirmed by our team of doctors, several treatment options are available within our own epilepsy program. This makes the referral process nearly seamless and ensures that the patient can begin therapy as soon as possible. The therapies we offer have been designed specifically to treat PNES by adapting approaches from different psychological modalities to target the identified triggers of the condition.
